My Posse
My best friend Clara is an amazing activist. She has seen how the humans need support and training from dogs and is now running a pilot project on the interactions at the dog run. She hopes that by showing the humans how dogs of all sizes and types can play together peacefully, this can act as a model for humans. This is a picture of Clara on the way to a rally - Dogs for Democracy - Free Aung San Suu Kyy (the legitimate leader in Burma who has been under house arrest for over 20 years).

My Name
People often assume that cute female puppies aren't suppose to have names like "Poncho". Every time I walk down the street, at least four folks per block need to get educated on how I got my name. So, to save time, let me tell you all the story, so that the next time you see me you can just pet me and not have to ask what's up with the name Poncho.
The deal is that you all need to brush up on your aviation history. We all know Amelia Earhart, but how many of you know she had a "special friend" named Pancho Barnes? Well, indeed she did! (Amelia, by the way, is my middle name). And, like me, Pancho was a woman with a man's name and a sense of adventure. Whereas my sense of adventure often leads me to the Tompkins Square Park dog run, Pancho's sense of adventure led her to move to the middle of the desert, take in many young female "special friends" and train them all to be pilots while simultaneously running a night club called the "Happy Bottom Riding Club." (You can learn more about Pancho here: http://www.panchobarnes.com/ )
Put that together with the fact that I'm originally from Ohio and can do a mad impressive "flying dog" pose, and you can see why no name fits me better than Poncho!
